H.M., Greenwich, CT – Chronic Low Back Pain Resolved
I have suffered with lower back pain for over 20 years, most likely the result of two bad accidents, one leading to emergency surgery to repair my ruptured spleen. Several times a year I would experience bouts of excruciating pain, feeling “electrical” in nature. These episodes would last anywhere from a couple of weeks to a few months in duration. Each time, I would recover enough to go on relatively normally. But, that evil pain would keep coming back! I saw many doctors from orthopedic surgeons to neurologist to physiatrists, and had way too many cat scans and MRIs. But, no one was able to help me. Most times they would prescribe “muscle relaxer” drugs which did not help me but rather caused me to develop an ulcer from their use. I tried corticosteroid injections and facet blocks which only gave me minor temporary relief. So, over the years I had exhausted all avenues for help with no success. I resigned myself to the fact that no one could help me and that I would just have to live with the pain when it struck. Then, I had another recurrence. It was very severe this time and I could not even sleep without experiencing “electrical type” pain from just the slightest movement. This was very debilitating and I was beginning to feel depressed as I was not able to go about my normally very active life in my usual manner. Over the years, several friends suggested I consider visiting a chiropractor. However, I was very leery and fearful of taking this route. However, after suffering for almost 5 weeks and having previously tried all other avenues to no avail, I decided to search for a chiropractor. I googled “chiropractors in Greenwich” and one of the websites was Doctor Buonanno’s. I booked an appointment. Although I was very nervous on my first visit, not knowing what to expect, the moment Doctor Buonanno began interviewing me, my fears were allayed. He explained that he would first take an x-ray to see what was going on. The x-ray revealed a couple of deteriorated discs and pinched nerves. Doctor Buonanno assured me he would proceed very slowly and carefully and that he would not hurt me. After my first treatment, I can honestly say a felt a marked improvement – and, I was able to get my first good night’s sleep in 5 weeks! I continued with Doctor Buonanno for a few more treatments after which I would say I am 80% better which is far more than I could have imagined. Doctor Buonanno is a careful, caring and very personable doctor with many years’ experience and knowledge of the structure of the human body. I even got an informative physics lesson as it applies to human anatomy while he was working on me! Very important – he listens and remembers everything discussed from one visit to another – a welcome change from some doctors I have visited who don’t remember my name or my concerns from one visit to the next. This has been a very positive experience – from the friendly office staff to the nice surroundings and music – and, of course, Doctor Buonanno’s expertise. I would highly recommend Doctor Buonanno without hesitation. My only regret regarding Doctor Buonanno is that I did not find him sooner!
P.D., Greenwich, CT – Timely Diagnosis Saves the Holiday
My wife, my children and I have seen Dr. Buonanno to treat us for various injuries and conditions over the years. Several years ago, my mom was in from Florida to visit for the holidays. Her back was seriously aching so we took her to Dr. Buonanno for his opinion. He examined her and x-rayed her spine. An inch in front of the spine he found an aortic aneurysm about to burst, so he sent her across the road to the Greenwich Hospital Emergency Department. He called ahead and had a vascular surgeon meet her there. The aneurysm was critical and the surgeon suggested immediate open heart surgery. Even though she was confronting a life threatening condition my mom wanted to spend Christmas with the children…so she postponed the surgery 48 hours…we were so scared the aneurysm would burst and she would die, but she wanted to be with the family for Christmas, not in the hospital. How could we deny her wishes? The operation was a complete success and we have enjoyed many a Christmas dinner retelling our “Miracle of Christmas” to family and friends. Thank you, Dr. Buonanno, for making this critical diagnosis!
G.T., Scarsdale, NY – Lifetime Athlete Gets Relief from Scoliosis
As a varsity college athlete and recreational tennis player with scoliosis, over a 25-year period my back would “go out” from time to time. When the episodes starting coming closer together, I was referred to Dr. Buonanno. He diagnosed my problem — and literally straightened my back! He understood how the body acts while performing athletic activities and was always aware and sensitive to any level of pain I was feeling. Dr. Buonanno has a great understanding of the human body and the way it works structurally. His caring and knowledge are the best qualities in a great physician. Over the last 14 years as I have been treated by Dr. B for tune-ups or flare-ups, he has always been there for me and resolved the problem. Based on my success, my son, a Division 1 college football player, and my daughter have also seen him when they’ve had injuries. Chiropractic care definitely allowed me to avoid invasive surgery and other invasive treatments. I get chiropractic check-ups to maintain my athletic wellness.

I am a healthy, athletic woman and had been experiencing pain in my hip for years. Previously, I was given a cortisone shot, which only gave me temporary relief. S.M., Rye, NY – From Immobile to Back on the Golf Course in One Week
My mother was Dr. Buonanno’s patient first. She had very bad back pain, but when he examined her he immediately referred her to a specialist because she was too far beyond his help and needed surgery. He made sure that she got to the right doctor. To me that showed a very caring and professional doctor, so when my back went out, the first person I thought of was Dr. Buonnanno. I went from being unable to move to back on the golf course within a week. Over the years he has always been able to fix my back and has even helped my knees! He has helped all the friends and family I have sent to him. I cannot say enough about how kind and caring he is and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who is suffering from back pain.

As a result, my muscles and joints lock up from overexertion and Dr. Buonanno has helped me on an as-needed basis. L.S., White Plains, NY – Structural realignment allows return to abandoned exercise regimen
I was diagnosed with Lyme disease over 20 years ago, unfortunately only after the onset of much arthritic pains. Over time, I developed trouble with my knees and hips and generalized pain in my lower body, as well as my neck and shoulders. Eventually this interfered with my regular exercise regimen, which came to a halt. This had a negative effect on my general health and left me depressed. Off and on, I have gone for physical therapy, which helped some – after weeks of treatments. Recently, I reinjured my knee and the pain became quite excruciating. So I decided to consult with Dr. Buonanno one day when my husband was seeing him. I came for regular adjustments for a month and was amazed at how fast I got restored to near normal. Without having to resort to medication and pain killers, I am now exercising again! Dr. Buonanno has a talent for realigning body parts that has enabled me to function back to normal.
F.L., Westin, CT – Spinal decompression provided lasting pain relief, able to forego surgery
I had a bad sports injury. Dr. Buonanno got me an MRI and referred me to a surgeon for a second opinion. Instead of pursuing the surgery, I decided to try the spinal decompression treatment. My pain was relieved. Three months have passed since being discharged from care, and I am still pain-free.
M.H., Rye, NY – Neck, Back and Leg Pain Relieved with Realignment and Posture Correction
I was in extreme neck and lower back pain following a fall. At the urging of my doctor, I did physical therapy and spinal injections. While I experienced some relief, the symptoms returned. A friend pointed me to Dr. Buonanno for chiropractic care. I tried it, thinking that I had nothing to lose. Surprise – I gained everything! The neck pain is GONE and the leg pain occurs so seldom and of such mild intensity that I am surprised when I feel a twinge. I then know its time to focus on my posture, as instructed by Dr. Buonanno, and the leg pain disappears again. I have never picked up the phone to say “Thank You” and am grateful to have the opportunity to do so now.

P.M., Mayfield,NY – Acute Back Pain Gone in Two Visits
What brought me to Dr. Buonanno was really bad back pain. I could hardly stand up and didn’t know what to do. I had never been to a chiropractor before, but thought I would give it a try. After the first visit, I left feeling much better. I returned for a second visit and the next day I was back to normal. I couldn’t believe it. That was about a year ago and I’ve felt great ever since. I have since moved four hours away, but if I ever experience pain like that again, I will drive the four hours to see him! Thank you so much.
P.T., Stamford, CT – Back to Golf After Spinal Decompression and Avoiding Surgery
One day while playing golf I felt pain and numbness racing down my butt and into my right thigh. I continued to play in constant pain on and off for two months. The constant pain and numbness were unbearable. I searched the web for a solution in my area and discovered Dr. Vincent Buonanno. Dr. Buonanno seemed like a very knowledgeable doctor so I agreed to get an MRI and find out what was wrong with me. The MRI showed that I had a severely ruptured lumbar disc at L5-S1 and it was compressing on a nerve. With the severity of my condition he referred me to one of the top spinal surgeons in NYC. The surgeon recommended an operation, but I wanted to try the less invasive approach first. Dr. Buonanno treated me with spinal decompression and physical therapy. It took a week to feel the difference, but after a couple of weeks into treatment I was completely without pain. I am able to move again and the pain and numbness are completely gone. I really believe that if I had surgery, I wouldn’t have had the results. Dr. Buonanno’s hands-on techniques work. He knew exactly what to do. He is an amazing doctor. I am certain if it weren’t for him, I would have undergone surgery.
