The Chiropractor’s first objective is to diagnose the cause of the patient’s problem. With a proper diagnosis, pain relief can often be accomplished in a short period. Once symptoms are alleviated, corrective care and the patient’s long-term goals are addressed.
When you come for your first office visit with Dr. Buonanno, patient care begins with a complete history, examination, and consultation. The examination will include postural and structural analysis, orthopedic and neurological tests — and when clinically indicated — diagnostic X-rays.
For your convenience, our Greenwich Kinetics office is equipped with a state-of-the-art, computerized/digital X-ray facility, utilizing Bolin lead shielding for radiosensitive organs. When clinically indicated, often times X-ray imaging can be performed at the time of your first visit, and Dr. Buonanno will review the findings with you immediately. This facilitates arriving more promptly at a diagnosis, with minimal disruption to a patient’s schedule, so that relief of symptoms can be achieved as quickly as possible.
When necessary, diagnostic testing may be ordered at our local hospital. This may include: MRI or CT scans to evaluate slipped discs or stenosis, sonography, myelography, bone scan, or EMG. For those patients who may have difficulty in an enclosed MRI, Greenwich Kinetics is also affiliated with Open MRI facilities with immediate online access to test results. We utilize a large referral network of specialists for evaluation and interpretation, as well as second opinions.
Dr. Buonanno adheres to the philosophy that the central role of the chiropractor is to improve spinal biomechanics. Throughout 30+ years in practice, he has consistently maintained:
Chiropractic care — employing structural corrective measures — can achieve pain relief and long-term corrective results for conditions that may not respond to other treatment methods.
Chiropractic treatment consists primarily of gentle spinal mobilization adjustments. At Greenwich Kinetics, we treat patients with acute and chronic structural problems. We also assist our patients in the enhancement of athletic performance and kinetic wellness by improving postural alignment, ergonomics, balance, and form.
Some conditions do require rehabilitation. This is accomplished in our office or within the local physical therapist network. Our practice also utilizes various physical therapy modalities, and there is considerable emphasis on acute crisis prevention, structural rehabilitation, and therapeutic exercise.
